Edit swaps
I have a feature request. Edit swaps and Edit credit. The ability to give other readers access to our work so they can proofread and edit it for us, and receive credit for it. Everyone on this site does review swaps. Now, none of us writers on this site by definition have agents, editors, or any of that support... most of us don't even have friends or family that we can hand our manuscripts to. Many of my fellow writers and readers on this site have good thoughts on editing and proofreading. No one can polish their own work, but many of us have the skills to proofread other people, especially with the aid of powerful editing tools like Grammarly, and read-aloud software. It would be really cool if we could do Edit swaps, I proofread yours you proofread mine. A means by which we could find someone to edit and proofread our work for us. What we would need would be some way for writers to enable our editors to access our work, and for a means by which they could create an edited marked-up copy. In exchange, editors could get credit on the site. I think this would really fill a need for your authors, I can't tell you how many books I have read good ideas but you go If only I could send you a marked-up edit. I know I'm not the only one I see it on so many of the review posts. It's something that doesn't exist. If new independent authors want to get a proofreader, we have to shell out thousands of dollars (and many of the sites that promise to help writers get published are scams." It would be awesome if there was a site where authors and readers could support one another in editing. Not to mention there are many readers who don't write but want to be part of the process. Just like there are so many writers in need of that person to work with that will fix those typos and point out our poor transitions. It would make you a truly reader-driven publishing house.

I was about to write a comment in this direction too.
I am not particularly OCD, but I very often spot typos, grammar mistakes and other editing needs.
I would love to be able to highlight to the writer, either through personal contact or in other way deemed appropriate how to improve their content.
Even the comment function is not precise enough to highlight where the editing is required because depending on the size of the font you choose, page numbers vary and will never help the writer.
Since this is a collaborative platform, "non-professional" editors would possibly be welcome.Maybe readers could be asked when they complete their profile whether they would like to have the access to proof-read and edit. After a while, regular editors proved useful could become your pool of go-to proof-readers? Thanks
